At Coastline Natural Horsemanship we strive to better the relationship between owner and horse. We care about all client horses like they are our own so we heavily involve the owner in the training process in order to set horse and owner up for long term success. We use Natural Horsemanship methods based on trainers like Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, Craig Cameron, etc. we make sure we have a wide variety of methods with this type of horsemanship to ensure we have one to fit you and your horse. We are currently offering travel training to most of San Diego county, including rural East county and Imperial beach. My Story
Connecting You With Your Horse
My name is Ashley Myers and horses have been my entire life since I was three years old, I have a total of 19 years riding experience and 7 years of training experience. I have worked under several local trainers and within the past three years have started to branch out with my own business. I really focus on the fact that each horse is an individual with different needs and each horse has a different learning style, it’s just about fitting the right puzzle pieces together. Along with this I also believe the owner should be involved in the training as well so they can understand how to communicate and work with their horse just as efficiently as I can, this can look like weekly lessons, a few times sitting in on training session, a recap once training is finished, etc, anything really that will fit the owners schedule. At the end of the day our goal is to send the owner/rider and horse off with the tools for long term success.

What I Offer You and Your Horses
We all want that amazing bond with our horses and we all want a horse we can hop on reliably without a second thought, well I am here to offer just that. The list of what we specialize in is down below, if you have any questions about specific training that you’d like to have done contact us, if we can’t help you we will help find someone who can!
Colt Starting
Starting a young horse correctly is extremely important, this is what will set them up for a long successful riding career. I will work with any horse 1yr or over, however I do strongly believe in waiting for riding until they are ready so if you would like me to start riding any horse that is under 3 I will require a vets okay. That is just for heavy active riding though, any horse under 3 I will get them used to the saddle, pressure being put in it, having someone sit on it, walking off and stopping etc. the vets okay is only required for consistent riding under 3yrs old. Wondering what to expect from your horse after our colt starting program? They will have a basic solid foundation on them, which includes standing for mounting and dismounting, walk, trot, canter, standing tied, loading in trailers(if trailer is provided on your property) and some desensitization to common things but they will still be considered “green” due to lack of miles. If you are looking for more after the colt starting program we are happy to move young horses up into our basic Foundation Work program which will fully finish your horse.
Problem Solving
No horse is too much for us, whether it’s bucking, biting, bolting or something else we have seen it. Problem Solving is probably one of my favorite things to do so don’t be worried that you will scare us off. Contact us today and we can help you get your horse back!
**This is one of the services I offer where I really stress the importance of the owner/rider being involved in the process because when they are involved I can educate them on the root of the problem and prevent it from happening again. That way horse and rider are set up for long term success and don’t have the problem recur.
Ground Training/ Foundation work
Ground Training is one of the most important things a horse will learn. A lot of people think ground training just consists of teaching ground manners but it is so much more than that, if you have holes in your ground work then you will inevitably have holes in your riding work somewhere. So we like to make sure all of the horses we work with have solid ground work put in before we progress to riding work. Our Foundation work pertains more to riding foundation, like collection, lead changes, trail miles, show miles, etc. foundation work is just the art of finishing a green horse.
Exercise Riding
No time to get down to the ranch this weekend? Schedule change and you just need your horse worked an extra day or two? No worries, we can help! I offer exercise work and riding for finished horses. This can be anything from putting them in turn out and lunging them to taking them out on a nice trail ride. Whatever you need done we can do it! Contact us today to get your horse on the schedule.
Horsemanship Lessons
Do you ever feel like there’s a communication boundary between you and your horse? Well We can help! I have dedicated a lot of time to learning about horse behavior and the way they communicate with each other, while learning about these behaviors I have been slowly “translating” it into the work we do with them. By doing this and modeling what we do after how horses communicate with each other takes away a lot of that communication boundary you feel sometimes because the horse is better able to understand what you are asking of them. By the end of our Horsemanship lessons you will feel much more connected to your horse and you will be able to ask much more of them as well.
Basic Riding Lessons
Our riding lessons are currently for people who have horses and need a riding instructor, we do not offer lesson horses at the moment so we can not accommodate someone without a horse provided.
